Shortly after the Twitter announcement of the Week 7 update, Newgrounds crashed due to a massive increase in traffic. It features three new stages played against antagonist and Newgrounds mascot Tankman (shown below). Week 7, aka the "Tankman" update, released on April 18th, 2021, and added the songs "Ugh," "Guns" and "Stress" to the game. On November 24th, Kawai Sprite uploaded the main menu track for the game, "Gettin' Freaky" to YouTube (shown below) followed by the rest of the OST on later dates to a playlist titled "Friday Night Funkin' OST." On November 15th, Newgrounds posted a teaser for the game to YouTube, garnering over 934,000 views in just over a month. Later that day, ninja_muffin99 tweeted a link to download and play the game on itch.io, where you can also download the game's full source code, as well as a link to vote for it in the Ludum Dare competition. The post received over 7,000 likes and 1,500 retweets in just under 3 months, with many commenters expressing excitement over the project. We must also keep in mind that as in any battle of MCs, cockfight or whatever you want to call it, we have to do it in turns, so there will be times when it will be our opponent who sings.On October 5th, 2020, programmer ninja_muffin99 tweeted a short preview of Friday Night Funkin' for the first time, saying, "been programming since Friday, rhythm game WIP & evilsk8r doing art, doing music)" (shown below). To follow the rhythm of the music and make our rhymes, we will have to be attentive to how the notes come and press the corresponding keys in the right direction. We are offered two game modes: free mode and story mode. The Windows version, which is the one we have here, is going to allow us to participate in a musical battle starring rappers, and we will do it in an identical way as we are allowed in other music games like Guitar Hero: by pressing the appropriate buttons to follow the rhythm of the music. Friday Night Funkin' is a fully independently developed game that is enjoying great success on both PC and Android thanks to the fact that many people have become hooked on it through the videos posted on TikTok and Twitch.
